meat recordings presents the long playing soundtrack for the critically acclaimed austrian feature film nevrland by gregor schmiedinger. it features tunes by electric indigo, matt mor, specific objects and gerald vdh. all music was carefully curated and selected by gerald vdh. while most of the tracks where tailor made to work in the various scenes of the picture the artists also kept an eye on the dancefloor and turned the pieces into fully fledged club tracks to be featured on this eight tracker. just like the movie itself, the soundtrack is a psychological, dark and twisted journey that will leave any audience openmouthed. the vinyl comes as a double 12 inch in a stunning gatefold cover.

psychedelic deep soul of the highest order, symphonic four was a st louis based band (as was the original label zudan). word is the record was recorded in detroit, and the backing band was made up of some members of parliament/funkadelic which would make a lot of sense. a long time spin for deep soul head but deserving of a wider audience and that why we could not resist to pull this one from the now again catalogue, 500 copies only.

following on from the impressive opening statement from modern manners, the second installment from the hitherto unknown outfit sees the sonic remit reaching out to other influences while retaining that poised lounge attitude that made the first record so instantly endearing. research is a dub track in essence, sporting ample space in the mix, the odd conga roll and sparse chords calling out into a field of reverb and delay. can maneras is a more shuffling kind of smooth jazz that aligns with the classy licks of st germain and the like. serate cosmiche finishes the ep off on a melancholic tip that puts the synths at the front of the mix for the first time.

the entire tape was made using a cursed roland sp404 sx, filled with broken beats, warped vocal samples and playful synths and glitches. the sounds range between meditative ambient, lo-fi beats to study to and jungle. the composition is relaxing and zen, but in the meantime will give you enough quirky details to hold on to.

it was memorial day weekend 2016, and the sun shined bright over the detroit river. pontchartrain stepped up to the decks at the red bull stage at movement electronic music festival donning his infamous detroit vs. itself- t-shirt. his first song through the rane rotary mixer was a dubplate made specifically for his set: afterlife. its a brilliantly executed balearic daytime disco rework that warrants the praise of summer anthem that its earning. on the flip is pool an equally sunny slomo beatdown rework from blair french. it s a delightful blend of cerebral and soulful, and is finally getting a release after being originally championed by peter croce on his le mellotron paris set back in early 2018. this 7inch is pressed heavy and cut loud at 33.3 rpm with a normal non-dinked hole.

the shanklin sessions came out of the shanklin road studio that andy sims shared with one of his partners from soft rocks, bobby coulman. acid jan started its life as a jan hammer edit that andy was doing for one of soft rocks disco powerplay releases. there were a few parts that never made the final cut, but were too good to leave, so andy got friend jaime read in to jam with the left over bits, and from that acid jan was born (none of the jans original parts made it to this finished re-incarnation). acid jan found it s way onto cynic label boss felixs usb and subsequently was played at every festival/club that felix played for about a year. when andy heard felix playing it at alfresco festival in 2016, they decided to release it on cynic. in search of a b side for the release, andy dug out the other dat s from the session acid jan was recorded at, and found sitars over shanklin, a suitably oddball track to grace the other side. a little piece of chicago via india recorded in brighton.
